An Authentic Sicilian Experience
I am Simona, born and raised Sicilian, with a great passion for the cuisine of Sicily.
I live in the countryside. My rural home is surrounded by the green hills of Chiaramonte Gulfi (close to Ragusa).
I offer cooking classes and dining experiences, a true way of getting to know Sicilian cuisine.
We will start our home cooking day with a relaxing walk around our property. We will go and pick together some of the ingredients which we will later use in the kitchen.
Our offer changes with the seasons.
During the summer we will visit our vegetable garden where we grow organic tomatoes, zucchini, peppers and onions. During the winter we will search for wild herbs that grow around the house.
After our walk, we will start to cook. Together with the help of my guests, I usually love to prepare fresh pasta or arancini. I can also show you how to prepare other side dishes and main courses in the old Sicilian tradition, such as caponata.
I like sharing the secrets and the history of Sicilian cuisine while having fun cooking.
It is finally dinner time! During the summer we can eat in the garden under our large olive tree, or in the terrace. During the winter we can sit in the kitchen, close to our cozy wooden stove.
This is my favorite moment of the day: it is time to exchange our stories, opinions and experiences.
Our dinner begins with a rich aperitivo. You can try my sourdough bread with homemade preserves: olives or dried tomatoes, jams and chutneys. I also offer dried cheeses and sausages from a local farmer and quality organic wine from nearby wineries. After tasting the main course we cooked together, you can enjoy a traditional Sicilian dessert such as cassatella, gelo or cannoli.
If necessary, we can offer a vegetarian, vegan and gluten free alternative. All of our products are locally grown and organic.
We live in the countryside area of Chiaramonte Gulfi, 25 Km from Ragusa. You can reach us easily by car from Ragusa (less than half an hour) or from Catania (about 1 hour).
